Weddings take place in some pretty unusual places these days. People skydive out of planes while shouting their vows at the top of their lungs, and even during the worldwide “Occupy” protests, there have been stories of people swapping vows while protesters rant on megaphones in the background. This past weekend, a couple tied the knot as they quite literally ran to the altar…during the New York Marathon!
Mary Martin and Raymond Donaldson were married at the 22nd mile marker as they jogged the course of the New York Marathon. A fellow runner ran alongside them and officiated the ceremony, if you can even call it that. They surely had witnesses though, as the race hosts thousands of runners each year. Martin and Donaldson had met each other running, so they figured it was only right to tie the knot in jogging shoes. The bride wore a white dress and veil that adorned her ball cap, while her fiance sported a black vest, boutonniere, and bow tie.
What’s the craziest idea you’ve ever had for your wedding? And if all the pieces fell into place, would you actually go through with it?
